Apprenticeship program

Build your future while helping power America.

At GTD Infrastructure, we believe the next generation of skilled utility professionals is built through hands-on experience, structured training, and the opportunity to learn from experienced leaders in the field. Our Transmission, Distribution, and Substation Apprentice Program provides a career pathway for individuals ready to develop the skills required to help build, maintain, and strengthen the electrical infrastructure that powers our communities.

Learn. Work. Advance.

Our apprenticeship program combines on-the-job training, progressive skill development, safety education, and field experience across the electric utility construction industry. Apprentices work alongside experienced journeymen, foremen, and operations leaders while developing the technical knowledge and practical skills necessary to advance within their chosen craft.

Apprenticeship opportunities may include

  1. 01

    Transmission

Building and maintaining high-voltage transmission structures, conductors, and related infrastructure.

  2. 02

    Distribution

Developing the skills required to construct, maintain, and restore overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.

  3. 03

    Substation

Gaining experience in the construction, installation, maintenance, and expansion of substations and associated electrical infrastructure.

A career path built for growth

The GTD Infrastructure Apprentice Program is designed around progressive development. As apprentices gain experience, demonstrate proficiency, complete required training, and meet program expectations, they advance through defined apprenticeship levels toward journey-level qualification.

Throughout the program, apprentices develop skills in areas such as electrical safety, construction methods, tools and equipment, rigging, climbing, equipment operation, system components, jobsite procedures, and utility construction practices.

Safety from day one

Safety is fundamental to every stage of the program. Apprentices receive ongoing training in safe work practices and are expected to develop the knowledge, awareness, and discipline necessary to identify hazards, protect their crews, and perform work in accordance with company, customer, and applicable regulatory requirements.

At GTD Infrastructure, safety is not something apprentices learn after they master the trade—it is part of how the trade is learned from the beginning.
